People…are talking about

Julie Anne San Jose

Julie Anne San Jose drops her new record and validates her status as the brightest music star of her generation

If records sale is the basis, it’s safe enough to call her the brightest female local music star of her generation. You cannot argue with multi-platinum and a diamond selling records achieved in just two years. Now, Julie Anne is promoting another album called Chasing The Light. And mind you, it’s topping local iTunes for a week now since its release.

Paolo Ballesteros

In May, he began posting photos of himself as some of the lady characters in Game of Thrones. Now, Paolo is getting the world’s attention with his makeup transformation skills. And oh, we heard through the grapevine that he’s in talks with TAPE Inc. big bosses. Paolo has been suspended from hosting Eat Bulaga after a controversial Facebook post. These are nothing but good developments.

Coleen Garcia

Her first appearance in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya was a defining moment of her acting career. She was a revelation. People didn’t know she could really act since most of the projects previously assigned to her didn’t require any skill in acting. We can treat this as a good start. Hence, we expect more from her.

Jinkee Pacquiao

Simplicity won in the SONA but Pacman’s wife and Saranggani Vice Governor obviously didn’t get the memo. While she may have gone against the modicum at the President’s first SONA it was still her right to wear whatever she wanted, thanks but no thanks to her her husband who lavished her with a new dress by Gucci. Obviously she wanted public attention. And she got it, but for the wrong reason.

It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez

Are there still people who watch the Kardashians wannabe reality show? The audience already lost interest in the show after its first season. Reason being, the show lacks originality and it’s noticeably scripted (amid Annabelle Rama’s claims that it is a spontaneous show). No wonder no one from the Gutierrezes has reached superstar status – they are all terrible actors.

Brillante Mendoza

Brillante Mendoza receives mixed reaction on his assignment as director of the 2016 SONA

The Cannes Festival Best Director awardee was commissioned to direct President Rodrigo Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address. The 1-hour-40-minute speech of the president was tolerable but viewers noticed something unusual. Mendoza attempted to give the audience a different perspective by playing up with the camera angle almost giving the audience a nice POV of Digong’s nostrils. Good thing, no shaky shots incorporated to give the SONA an indie feel.  Mendoza didn’t get the memo, too.
