Will Sam Ajdani be the first Filipino and Asian Mr. World titlist?

Two years since the 25-year-old, 6-foot-2 Bench model was named Mr. World Philippines 2016 by CQ Global Quest under director Cory Quirino and Mr. World Philippines chairman Arnold Vegafria, Ajdani will finally represent the country at the 9th edition of the Julia Morley-owned male pageant.

Ajdani, a fitness coach and presently finishing a Masters degree in Information Technology at the University of the East, was born in Iran to an Iranian father and Filipino mother and moved, to Laguna, the Philippines, at the age of 14.

Blessed with an exotic face and great body, women swoon over the tall hunk wherever he goes and this led him to be discovered in the modeling world four years ago.

“Believe in yourself. I believe we all came to this life with a purpose and somewhere deep within us, we have a voice telling us what it is we are here for. No matter what this voice is telling you, find the courage to go in that direction. Once you do that, life becomes more meaningful. Take a step today and let tomorrow take care of itself. Today you have the opportunity to do more, to give more, and to be more. Always do the right thing. Live your life on ethics rather than rules,” Ajdani said in one of his posts on Facebook.

“I never thought and never even dreamed of it. It wasn’t part of my plan but it happened. My agent encouraged me, and I thought about it overnight. I know I don’t like competitions much, but let’s see what happens,” Ajdani said on his sudden stint at male pageantry.

Ajdani will compete against 50 delegates from all corners of the world aiming to top the first runner-up finish of model and national rugby player Andrew Wolff in Mr. World in 2012 and follow in the footsteps of Mister International 2014 Neil Perez (PO2 Mariano P Flormata, Jr.) and Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet.

The Mr. World pageant started in 1996 and has been dominated by European and Latino candidates. Christopher Celis (1996), Rico Lee Miguel (1998), Roderick Salvador (2000), Marco Antonio Tamayo (2003), Emmanuel Mago (2007), Alvin de Joya (2010) and John Spainhour (2014) all competed in Mr. World without success. Nicklas Pedersen of Denmark is the reigning Mr. World (2014).

Mr. World, dubbed the “Search for the World’s Most Desirable Man,” will consist of five challenges in talent, fashion and style, extreme challenge, sports and multi-media. Mr. World 2016 finals will be held at the Southport Theater & Conference Center, Southport, United Kingdom, on July 19.
