Candice Ramos said she would readily give up her career in exchange for winning Miss Global Philippines because she believed it would be her bread and butter and open for her doors of opportunities.
Indeed, she edged out four of her nearest competitors and 16 other single girls and single mothers to win a Miss Global Philippines 2015 at the coronation night held at Resorts World Manila Newport Theater of Performing Arts.
Ramos, a 28-year-old, native of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, is a BS Tourism graduate of the University of the Philippines and was a fifth placer at the Miss Earth Philippines pageant in 2012. Outgoing title-holder Catherine Almirante who was third placer in Miss Global International 2014 crowned her successor.
Henna Santos, another Ilocana, was first runner-up; Mary Eileen Gonzales of Quezon City, second runner-up; Angela Anninang of Negros Occidental, who lost her balance and fell on stage during a preliminary competition was third runner-up while Meryl Angeline King of Albay fourth runner-up.
Santos also walked away with the best in talent, swimsuit and evening gown special awards while Gonzales, a Star Magic talent won the Miss Friendship, New Placenta, Netizen, and Resort Wear special titles. Ramos was earlier named Miss Hanna Beach Resort. Others who made it to the Top 10 were Stephanie Archival, Jir Jane Danag, Abbyjun Dizor, Ckeszha Kren del Rosario and Queenie Uy.
Ramos will reign as tourism ambassador to help promote Philippine tourism and will compete against some 50 delegates coming to Manila in October for the Miss Global International title currently held bt Miss Canada Ela Mino. Rizza Lao Laping and Pauline Laping head the Miss Global Philippines franchise.
