Miss International bet at the AFP-PNP Olympics 2015 opening

The AFP-PNP Olympics 2015, an annual sporting event for soldier and police athletes, was declared open during a simple ceremony held at the GHQ Grandstand in Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Sept. 8 with reigning Bb. Pilipinas International Janicel Lubina acting as muse of the highly regarded national police contingent.

Lubina, a veteran in pageantry took the Bb. Pilipinas-International 2015 title in the last edition of the most prestigious national pageant in the land, Binibining Pilipinas. She was also adjudged best in swimsuit and best in evening gown. The 20-year-old, former Miss Bikini Philippines and runner up to Megan Young in Miss World Philippines 2013, is a living Cinderella having once worked as a kasambahay in her province of Palawan as alternate for her ailing mother.

The beauty queen elicits glances from the soldiers

Lubina, took time out from her training and preparation for her competition at the 2015 Miss International pageant in Japan in November, to add glamor and excitement to the participating athletes. Police personnel turned into instant fans of the stunning, statuesque beauty who mingled and readily obliged for selfies after the traditional parade of participants.

Director General Ricardo C. Marquez, chief of PNP, representing Police Director Francisco A. Uyami, acting chief, Directorial Staff of PNP gave total support to the highly anticipated sports event and wished the participants a successful 2015 AFP PNP Olympics.  Major General Edgardo R. Fallorina, deputy director of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines represented General Hernando DCA Iriberri, chief of staff of AFP and declared the opening of the competition.

The AFP-PNP Olympics is held yearly to promote sports, physical fitness and wellness activities among military, police and civilian personnel. It also promotes discipline, sportsmanship, camaraderie and unity among the men and women in uniform. The competition expects a high-level, world class performance in various sports discipline like badminton, swimming, tennis, taekwondo, basketball, football, volleyball, marathon, Chess, arnis, shooting and boxing.

The PNP participants will try to dislodge the AFP Philippine Air Force who emerged as over-all champion in last year’s edition.
