Not tying the knot, not yet

ACCORDING to Luis Manzano, he and girlfriend Angel Locsin are not under pressure to tie the knot at this point when grand celebrity weddings are an “in” thing in the ‘biz like the recent union of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera and the upcoming Sen. Chiz Escudero-Heart Evangelista nuptials.

“You know, it’s like this: if we get engaged, it’s because we want to and we feel we are already prepared to settle down and start a family,” he says. “Jumping into the bandwagon is not our cup of tea. I’m sure Angel and I will also have our engagement happening in our own time just like any normal couple, right? Let’s wait and see!”

The articulate lad points to their heavy workload as one major factor why he and his lady love don’t have the chance to discuss the topic.

“That’s true! I’ve lots of projects to do this brand new year and so does Angel. She has a movie with my mom (Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto) and is preparing for the reprisal of her role as Darna. Of course, in between those, we also have other personal things to attend to. So, I don’t want to take anything from her focus especially when it concerns her career. As of now, we’re just taking things easy.”

There are reports which say that his mom is gradually hinting for him to finally settle down.

“Well, a bit. Ha-ha-ha! Every time we meet and I’m with Angel and some of my pals who are with their kids, she would always wink at me while mimicking as if she’s cradling a tot in her arms. I just tell her in a joking manner that her first grandchild will be given by my brother Ryan instead!”

Apart from his showbiz career, many are expecting that he would foray into the political scene this 2015.

“When it comes to that, I’m still waiting for a sign from God if I would really enter the field. I remember when I did the Ala Eh festival in Taal together with my mom, Angel and Tito Ralph (Recto), the latter told me that we should talk about it real soon. He wants to know if I’m really ready to serve.

“But as I’ve stated earlier, I’m still waiting for a solid sign before I say yes. For others, maybe they would go for the physical ones like seeing a white dove or initials in a car. Personally, I want it to be something abstract. It’s either upon praying before retiring at night or when you wake up in the morning. For me, that’s the best sign: when God talks to you, which is more spiritual. I believe it’s the best way to find out if you’re already prepared to do something…”

The witty actor-host-comedian clarifies though that no one is putting him under pressure to enter public service.

“Oh yes! Let me just stress that nobody has convinced me to join politics: not my mom, dad or stepdad. They never influenced me. What I always hear from them is whatever my decision is: whether I’ll be an actor or businessman for the rest of my life they will be there to guide me. In case I want to become a public servant eventually, they just remind me to be sure on what I’ll be entering and promise to support my endeavor,” ends Luis.

Jake Vargas is saddened by German Moreno’s recent bout with mild stroke. The Master Showman was brought to St. Luke’s Hospital for medication.

“I really pray that he recovers fast,” he says. “I’m glad that his condition is improving at this point. There are a lot of us waiting for his return.”

What health advice can he give Kuya Germs once he recuperates?

“I really hope he will have more time to rest. He is very hard working that he forgets to relax. He always wants to be busy. But as I’ve said, he should avoid getting stressed. I just want him to enjoy, be happy!”

When it comes to his career, the handsome Kapuso star continues to be blessed.

“My last soap, Strawberry Lane just wrapped up. I’m still with Pepito Manaloto and Sunday All Stars which remain top raters. I also have a movie with Bea (Binene) titled Liwanag sa Dilim which is to be shown very soon,” avers Jake.
