The Cement Manufacturers’ Association of the Philippines (CeMAP), recently held a one-day summit entitled “Road Safety: Staying on the Right Track” in Cebu City.

The conference tackled current best practices in road transportation management in the country. Aside from officials of Philippine-based cement firms, logistics and trucking firms, government officials attended the event to share the latest in transport and road regulations and policies. At the end of the conference, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) assistant secretary Dante Lantin promised to place the proposed cargo management contract with key safety indicators at the DOTC website.

CeMAP President Ernesto Ordoñez said “logistics and transport are integral in the cement business which is why we place prime value on road safety.”

During the forum, Lantin shared the various projects and programs of the government for road safety. Among these are law enforcements such as the Helmet Law (R.A. 10054), the Seatbelt Law (R.A. 8750), the Anti-Drunk and Anti-Drugged Driving Law (R.A. 10586), among others.
