Since the pandemic started, we get stuck in our homes, unexposed to personal interactions. Now that we are slowly getting back to face-to-face events like meetings, classes, and gatherings after being in long periods of lockdown, some cannot get themselves to feel confident again in front of everybody.

When it comes to things like this, the perfect person to ask for tips to become confidently beautiful in facing other people is none other than Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

Catriona shared her secret yet achievable beauty tips on how she maintains and boosts her confidence on and off the camera.

1. Have a good sleep.

Most people spent their time at home catching up with their favorite series, spending the rest of their night finishing a whole season until morning.

However, according to Catriona, having a good rest is always essential. Being able to get the right amount of sleep or even a quick meditation will help you not just to get some rest but also to collect your thoughts and to recharge your energy. She advises finding some time to nap despite one’s busy schedule.

This will help you to think more clearly and do better in your activities, giving you all the confidence that you need for the rest of the day. It can also reduce stress and improve your mood.

2. Find joy in your routine.

Without a doubt, the pandemic has changed the way we do our daily routines. You’ll be surprised, without realizing it, that it is already nighttime and you did nothing much.

But what Catriona suggests is to find joy in your routines. Be it your beauty routine, a quick morning walk, or even during your “me time,” try to enjoy the simple moments.

3. Make sure you have a great canvas—your skin.

Considered as the largest part of our body, your skin plays a vital role on how you present yourself. Your whole skin is your canvas. Learning to love and properly take care of it—whatever type or color—can contribute to boosting your confidence.

“I think, in my line of work, and I think in everyone’s life, whatever job or things that you do, having bright, healthy, radiant skin is just something that gives you just a confidence boost,” shared Catriona during a forum hosted by Cetaphil Philippines in partnership with premium multi-brand beauty destination, Look At Me.

“Cetaphil, really, is so gentle that using it every day, it just allows me to really care for my skin in a way that it always seems to bounce back. So, it’s definitely a trustworthy line for me,” said Catriona.

The event also featured its newest collection, Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance, which answers the need for a healthy and gentle skin brightening solution.

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance line

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance is a much-loved, complete skincare line for the face and body. Products include Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser, Brightness Refresh Toner, Brightening Day Protection Cream SPF 15, Brightening Night Comfort Cream, Brightness Reveal Body Wash, Brightness Reveal Bar, and Brightening Lotion.

4. Go for makeup that flatters you and your features.

Catriona emphasizes that even though we have beauty goals that we learn from people we look up to like beauty vloggers, we should know and consider that we have our own unique features, too.

“So, it’s just getting the time to learn about yourself, your features, what works for you because not all beauty make up looks work on everyone,” said Catriona.

Spending time to study your features is one best practice to see what kind of makeup really fits you – not just your skin type or eye shape but also your style.

5. Go for clothes that you’re comfortable with.

Catriona has one tip about clothes: Make sure that your clothes are freshly steamed or ironed. It will make you automatically look so put together.

“Finding clothes that flatter you, again, how we were talking about how everyone has different facial features, everyone also has different body shapes. Different colors and shapes work on different people. So, just getting the time to learn about what works for you, sometimes if you’re not sure, maybe look to an influencer or someone that you look up to online that has a similar body type, then you can try it, too,” she said.

“So, wear whatever you feel makes you beautiful, makes you confident, makes you comfortable, and works on you. It’s your sense of fashion, don’t let anyone tell you like, ‘no, that’s not nice.’ It is self-expression,” added Catriona.

6. To look good for the camera, study your angles.

To have your best photo doesn’t mean you need to be always photogenic or be in your OOTDs.

For Catriona, it is important to better know which angles work for you – perhaps by practicing in front of a mirror or even taking selfies on your phone.

Discover the right angles that will highlight and flatter your best features and find out which side best works for you.

7. Be present.

It may sound unachievable for the most time, but Catriona believes that “confidence is something that you grow, you develop, and the more you that you’re able to exercise that outside your comfort zone, the more that it’s able to strengthen and carry you through different situations that you may be in.”

She also advised to focus on being present in the moment instead of thinking about projecting your look.

“It will allow you to really connect with the person you’re with, or with other people that you’re talking to, or really enjoy what you are doing because you’re constantly projecting yourself into all these different thoughts,” she added.
