Chef RV Manabat serves up dog-friendly carrot cake for pets and owners
Dogs and humans alike were treated to a slice of indulgence as Chef RV Manabat unveiled a carrot cake designed for families and their furry companions. The recipe ensures pets are part of the indulgence, letting families share a moment of sweetness together.
The Biñan, Laguna-based chef, known for his lively social media presence and Chef RV Café, created the cake using ingredients safe for dogs, including yogurt and honey.

“We always celebrate with our two dogs, Bambi, a Golden Retriever, and Kiara, a Siberian Husky. I wanted them to enjoy a special treat too,” Chef RV said. “The whole cake, garnished with almonds, is for humans, while mini, nut-free versions are for the dogs.”
A graduate of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde with a master’s from Boston University, Chef RV often shares recipes using easy-to-find Filipino ingredients on his Facebook and YouTube channels so fans can recreate them at home.
For the dog-friendly carrot cake, he mixes two cups of all-purpose flour, one and a half teaspoons each of baking powder and baking soda, a pinch of salt, one cup of vegetable oil, one cup of muscovado sugar, three eggs, two cups of grated carrots, half a cup of crushed pineapple, and half a cup of plain yogurt. The mixture is poured into baking pans and baked at 350°F until the top is almost dry.

The frosting blends one cup of cream cheese, a quarter cup of butter, and a quarter cup of honey, blended until smooth and spread over the cake, with optional food coloring for a festive look.
