German athlete Caroline Joyeux, who is in a long-term and low-key relationship with Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena, has posted a video showing their time spent together in the City of Love for the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Oh Paris…,” Joyeux captioned her video, which showed her smiling to the camera with Obiena in one moment and watching him compete in another.
During Obiena’s pole vault finals, she posted social media stories documenting her support for her partner.
Joyeux was even seen with a Philippine flag on one photo she uploaded.
The pair of athletes have been dating since 2020.
Obiena revealed their relationship in a 2022 episode of Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel podcast.
“I met her here in the training camp. And then I had a trip, a trip that I needed to go to in Berlin, then I met her there again. And then she ended up flying back here and doing a training camp. And then that’s where we kind of, you know, ‘Hey,’ and then yeah, it’s a funny, awkward, cheesy, kind of way of meeting people,” Obiena recalled.
