Leni’s ‘Oplan Trojan Horse’ fails

"Apparently, she had a different agenda in mind."

Leni Robredo certainly overstayed her welcome at her co-chair post at the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

Instead of getting down to business to help stop illegal drugs trafficking, she pressed for the termination of Oplan Tokhang and end the killings of drug lords and drug dealers, which she all blames to President Duterte.

Manong Digong showed a sense of fairness in response to Robredo's criticism and claim that the war on drugs has failed, giving her a chance to help bring about solutions and welcomed like the Trojan Horse.

But apparently, she had a different agenda in mind which is to sabotage the government's war versus illegal drugs altogether.

Aling Leni was headed in the wrong direction from the very start, out to defy and test the patience of Manong Digong.

No less than the fugitive communist leader Joma Sison backed up the de facto Vice President in her initial steps to take the place of who Joma described as a "seriously ailing President."

The trouble with running her mouth and grandstanding before actually getting anything done is that it affirmed her ill designs to advocate for the drug dealers instead of the victims of the drug menace and drug-related crimes.

Aling Leni also shamelessly invited the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and United States officials to interfere in the country's internal affairs, the war on drugs. Such is an indication of treason.

First, she barked up the wrong tree demanding a stop to extrajudicial killings (EJKs) of drug dealers. She summarily blamed the President for the executions and absolved drug mafias of the rubouts.

And then, she wants the widespread drug abuse to be treated as a "health problem," just like tuberculosis and lung cancer caused by cigarret-smoking on willing victims.

Unfortunately, “sin tax” cannot be imposed on shabu sales to finance the costly treatment, rehabilitation and counsellng of drug addicts like what they do in the US and other wealthy countries where there are worse drug problems.

Now that Aling Leni has earned the ire of Manong Digong which she deserves, sarcastically asking the President to “clarify” her assigned job.

She vowed not to resign and dared Manong Digong to fire her, so she got what she and her Yellow minions wished for.

As co-chair of ICAD, it was a given that she had the same duties and responsibilities of Director-General Aaron Aquino, of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Why did she accept the post if it was not clear to her what the job entailed, which is to crack down on illegal drugs syndicates?

According to Executive No. 15, the ICAD chairperson shall have the responsibilities, including: to ensure the effective conduct of anti-illegal drug operations and arrest of high value drug personalities down to the street level peddlers and users; and to cleanse the bureaucracy of unscrupulous personnel involved in illegal drug activities.

She must have known that she was not designated as co-chair of the Commission on Human Rights which she might have preferred. She is clearly unfit for the ICAD job and deserves the boot.
