Down the sewers

The despicable Yellow Opposition propaganda machine is in a quandary for damage control in the wake of the devastating sex-video scandal starring Jim Paredes, poster boy and prominent fixture in the Yellows’ anti-government activities.

There goes Otso Diretso’s 2019 elections bid—down the drain. Thus, they are finding the need for a new propaganda ploy against the Duterte administration.

Reeling from the debacle, they swiftly targeted presidential son Paolo Duterte with a recycled allegation of involvement in illegal drugs, even as Paredes consequently admitted to his obscene escapade.

They, too, have not spared 14-year-old Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, the President’s daughter with Honeylet Avanceña in their social media onslaught, recycling again rumors about Manong Digong’s hidden wealth.

The Yellows’ propapaganda machine must come up with something juicier than Paredes’ sex-video scandal that sent massive shockwaves over the obscenity of the known singer-songwriter and member of the iconic Apo Hiking Society.

Paredes had helped draw audience to the elitist cause of Yellow oligarchy but his perversion has reduced these Yellow mascots to the mere laughingstocks that they are.

Truth hurts, just like what Paredes himself said when he confronted a group of Duterte supporters during the 2017 EDSA People Power commemoration.

“What is truth? Truth is truth whether it hurts you or it hurts me,” spewed Paredes, as his group of Yellow rallyists tried to drive the Dutertards away.

Here we are two years later, Paredes’ words blew up in his face bigtime.

At first, he dismissed the viral sex video as fake news but realized he had no choice, and later admitted it’s actually him doing a “private concert.” Some dude at my TV network thinks it is an apt music video for his single, “Libog Lang Yan.”

Still, he has the temerity to blame some Duterte supporters for exposing his utterly disgusting sex-video, recorded during a video call with still-unidentified individual.

He has the option to go after those who leaked nasty material that went viral as an invasion of privacy and a violation of the Cyber Law.

True he has the right to privacy and whatever he does in his house, whether to satisfy his fetish for video-recorded sex or ingesting shabu may be nobody else’s business.

But when any video material gets streamed online, allowing another person the access to it is a completely different matter.

So much for “protection of privacy” in the digital world where almost nothing is impossible. There have been numerous reports of data breach involving the social media like Facebook and websites of government institutions. Somewhere out there, somebody can possibly be watching you anytime.

Obviously, Paredes did not learn a lesson from the same sex-video scandals previously exposed involving other celebrities, actors, singers, entertainers and news media personalities.

After all has been said of Jim Paredes, we all must learn the only way of protecting our privacy in this cyber age—never ever go online or post photographs, video or any materials that are not intended for public consumption.

As alleged tax evader and foreign dummy Maria Ressa, Leah Navarro and Risa Hontiveros would say, “This is a free country and we have the right to free speech and free press.” Yeah, just as Jim has the right to do whatever he wants.

I won’t be surprised if a Part 2 to this scandal comes out.
