I did not say alliance shift is a welcome move

I write in connection with the story “Taiwan upbeat on ties with PH,” written by Sara Susanne D. Fabunan, which appeared in the June 27 issue of Manila Standard.

The eighth paragraph said that I echoed Taiwan’s representative to Manila, Gary Lin, that “the Philippines’ decision to shift its alliance to China was a welcome move but urged Manila to also seek ties and cooperation with Taipei.”

I did not say that the Philippines’ decision to shift its alliance to China was a welcome move.
