The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon announced that Tropical Depression “Emong” has developed into a tropical storm within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 2 p.m., Emong was located 120 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving southwest at 20 kilometers per hour (kph).
The tropical storm now has winds of 65 kph and gusts of 80 kph.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm “Dante,” which was also upgraded from a tropical depression on Wednesday morning, is still being monitored inside the PAR.
Additionally, a low pressure area (LPA 07i) being monitored outside PAR has a “high” potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the state weather bureau.
