‘Bising’ intensifies, more areas placed under Signal No. 1

Tropical depression ‘Bising’ slightly intensified Friday as it moved over the sea west of extreme Northern Luzon with more areas placed under wind signal no. 1, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an updated weather bulletin, PAGASA maintained its forecast that ‘Bising’ will likely exit this afternoon, but it may re-enter by Sunday (July 6). It was last monitored moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour about 280 km west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan.

As of 11:00 a.m. Friday, the state weather bureau placed the following areas under the first wind signal, warning of heavy rainfall outlook: western portions of Babuyan Islands (Calayan and Dalupiri Islands), Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Bangui, Burgos, Pasuquin, Dumalneg, Bacarra, Laoag City, Paoay, Currimao, Badoc, Pinili), and the northwestern portion of Ilocos Sur (Caoayan, City of Vigan, Santa Catalina, San Vicente, Santo Domingo, Magsingal, San Juan, Cabugao, Sinait, San Ildefonso)

“The forecast track is highly uncertain and a possible southward shift resulting to hoisting of Wind Signal No. 2 over Batanes and Babuyan Islands is not ruled out,” PAGASA reiterated in its bulletin.

“’Bising’ is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow (Saturday) and may further intensify as it moves over the sea south of Taiwan,” it added.
