LPA to bring rains over parts of Caraga in Mindanao—PAGASA

Moderate to heavy rains caused by a low pressure area (LPA) will fall on several provinces across the Caraga region in Mindanao by Tuesday until the end of the week, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The affected areas include Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental, based on the 5:00 p.m. weather advisory on Monday.

PAGASA said the inclement weather may result in localized flooding in low lying communities and landslides in highly susceptible areas.

“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” the weather bureau added.

PAGASA earlier warned of tropical cyclones that may develop during Christmas week this year. It will be named ‘Querubin’ once it officially enters the Philippine area of responsibility.
