Government rolls out P1 billion cash aid for college education of children of COVID-affected OFWs

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday announced a P1 billion cash aid for the college education of students whose OFW parents either lost their jobs or succumbed to COVID-19.

Duterte said the funding will cover at least 33,000 college students from OFW families at P30,000 each.

The educational assistance will be implemented by the Commission on Higher Education through the Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Act (UniFAST) with the help of the Department of Labor and Employment.
