President Marcos is scheduled to meet with his official family on January 7 to discuss the administration’s legacy projects as his term approaches the halfway marker, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced yesterday.
Acting PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez told reporters in a Viber message that the chief executive met with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday to “compare notes” ahead of the first Cabinet meeting of 2025.
Chavez added that big-ticket programs and Official Development Assistance (ODA)-funded projects are also on the agenda of next week’s meeting, which will be a “full Cabinet” meeting.
While the PCO chief did not enumerate the legacy projects up for discussion, Administration lawmakers previously stated that the President targets to build more specialized hospitals, six million affordable housing units, as well as to end hunger nationwide.
It can be recalled that Mr. Marcos held two full Cabinet meetings, two special Cabinet meetings, and 49 sectoral Cabinet meetings in 2024.
“The President will be comparing some notes with the Executive Secretary today. This includes the agenda in the first Cabinet meeting,” said in his message before the President’s one-on-one meeting with his top secretary.
Chavez noted that the chief executive also scheduled private meetings on Thursday, noting the President’s busy agenda as the New Year begins.
He added that the annual Vin D’ Honneur in Malacañang will take place on January 11.
Mr. Marcos and the first family stayed at the Bahay Pangulo, his official residence on the Malacañan Palace grounds during the New Year celebration.
In his New Year’s message, the President expressed optimism about the year ahead, highlighting lessons from the past year as a foundation for building a future “filled with promise and purpose.”
He has emphasized continuity and progress since taking office in 2022, and is expected to outline key priorities for his administration in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
