Veteran actor John Regala – John Paul Scherrer in real life – passed away early Saturday morning at 55 years old after battling liver and kidney complications.
His wife, Victoria Scherrer, said the actor had been under critical care for three weeks at the New Era General Hospital in Quezon City until he died.
Scherrer thanked the Iglesia Ni Cristo for helping Regala throughout his terminal illness, along with friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
The family is still finalizing arrangements for Regala’s wake at St. Peter Chapels in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
Regala started his career as a member of “That’s Entertainment” in the 1980s.
He eventually portrayed iconic lead and villain characters in movies such as “The Vizconde Massacre: God Help Us” and “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story.”
