A cow in Kansas made a daring escape from a processing plant and went down fighting—charging at a police officer at a railroad track and taking a bullet before being caught and sent back to be butchered.
Brock Volkman of the Richards Cold Storage in Valley Center City said the meat was not damaged after the cow was shot.
In an interview with The Wichita Eagle, Volkman said the bovine escaped last week while a customer brought her to be butchered.
An officer of The Valley Center Department of Public Safety said he tried to get the cow off the tracks when she charged at him, prompting him to shoot.
The bullet failed to stop the cow, according to a spokesperson of the department in a Facebook message to HuffPost.
“Officers followed her another mile through fields before representatives from the processing locker caught her.”
