The Bureau of Immigration ordered the deportation of a British fugitive who had tried to rape a minor in the United Kingdom.
The foreigner, identified as Mark Christopher Wyatt, was arrested by members of the bureau’s fugitive search unit at his home in Camiling, Tarlac.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Wyatt’s arrest was sought by British authorities after the latter learned that the convict had fled the UK in violation of his parole or for breaching a supervision order and notification requirements.
“We will send him back to the UK where he will be returned to prison because he left the country during his period of supervision,” the BI chief said.
He added that “being a convicted child sex offender, his continued presence here poses a real threat to Filipino children anyone of whom could be his next victim.”
According to BI intelligence officer and FSU chief Bobby Raquepo, Wyatt arrived in the country a year ago.
Raquepo said the Briton was placed on the bureau’s wanted list in May this year after UK’s National Crime Agency, through the British embassy in Bangkok, alerted the BI about his presence in the country.
Wyatt, the embassy said, was convicted in March 2015 for arranging a meeting with a child under 16 years of age after grooming and sending her pictures of his private parts.
“He would go back to prison to serve his suspended sentence because he left the UK during the period he was under supervision,” Raquepo said.
