A SOUTH Korean wanted by authorities in his country for alleged violent acts he committed there several years ago was ordered deported by the Bureau of Immigration.

The Korean fugitive, identified as  Kang Bum Su, was arrested by BI operatives at his home in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Kang was ordered expelled after his embassy in Manila informed the BI about his criminal record and he had become undocumented as a result of the cancellation of his passport by the Korean government.

A warrant for Kang’s arrest was  issued by a Korean court where he was indicted for violating the country’s punishment of violence act.

That law punishes any person or group of persons who commit violence and use deadly weapon that result in bodily harm to their victims.

“He was already included in our blacklist to prevent him from reentering the country,” Morente said.

BI intelligence officer and FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said the captured fugitive hid in the Philippines for more than six years apparently to evade arrest and prosecution for his crime.

Raquepo said a check of the BI’s travel database showed Kang last arrived in Manila on July 24, 2011 and did not leave the country since then.

He added a team of Korean policemen is expected to arrive in Manila soon to fetch and escort the fugitive on his return flight to Korea.
