FORMER Caloocan City representative Mitch Cajayon, the Council for the Welfare of Children executive director, on Monday urged school children to report all forms of abuses, including online abuses and cyber-bullying, to authorities.

At the San Francisco National High School in Quezon City, Cajayon led the 25th year celebration of the national children’s month and kicked off the launch of “Pito, Bata, Pito! A Call 4 Help Campaign” (C4H) to symbolize the children's call for support, help and immediate response in times of threat or danger due to violence against children or any emergency situation.

“We want to give children a voice from being victims of various crimes, specifically on illegal drugs, all forms of violence and exploitation,” she told reporters at a media briefing.

The council distributed whistles to the students of the San Francisco National High School so that they could “blow their whistles whenever they feel in danger and unsafe.”

The group aims to gather one million whistles to be given to different school children nationwide in December.

Due to the high incidence of children falling victims to illegal drug trade and other forms of violence, Cajayon said, the CWC “sees the need to launch the campaign for children to be equipped in protecting themselves.”

“You may approach the barangays,” the group said, adding if they feel unsafe in the company of their friends or relatives.
