IMMIGRATION officers barred two fake employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways from leaving the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after they presented spurious government travel documents apparently allowing them to travel to Japan.
The two, identified as Lorena Sagum and Rowena dela Peña admitted that they intend to work in Japan and that their travel documents, including travel authority, identification cards and leave applications from the DPWH signed by Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, were prepared in Claro M. Recto.
BI-Port Operations division chief Red Mariñas said the two also admitted that they were not employees of the DPWH and will work as house helpers in Japan.
He said that many Filipino “tourist workers” were using the same modus by posing themselves as government employees and presenting bogus government travel orders supposedly signed by their department heads.
