Party-list group seeks probe of vote discrepancy

A PARTY-LIST group on Wednesday filed a petition-in-intervention asking the Supreme Court to compel the Commission on Elections to order an investigation on the discrepancy in the number of votes it received in the May 9 elections.

In a 20-page petition, the Confederation of Non-Stocks Savings and Loan Associations Inc. represented by retired Air Force Col. Ricardo L. Nolasco Jr. sought an independent and thorough investigation on the alleged discrepancies between Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) results obtained from the transparency server and the Comelec’s canvassing.

Named respondents were the Comelec, GMA-7 News and Public Affairs and the PPCRV.

“It appears there were large discrepancies between the votes for Consla as reported by the quick count conducted by PPCRV, and broadcast through periodic updates of GMA-7 News and Public Affairs among other networks, and the official canvassing results determined by the Comelec,” the petition stated.

Consla stressed its reliance on PPCRV’s results was a consequence of Comelec decision to accredit it as its quick count partner, plus its direct access to poll body’s Transparency Server where election results from all precincts were directly transmitted and thus could be immediately tabulated.

They also sought the release of the results of the random manual audit of 715 vote counting machines and to subject the source codes and hash codes certified on Jan. 26, Feb. 9, and Feb. 11 to an independent audit of information and technology experts.
