Typhoon Marce leaves 10k stranded

MORE than 10,000 passengers were stranded in various ports in the Visayas, Mindanao and the Bicol region as of 8 a.m. on Friday because of Tropical Storm “Marce,” the Coast Guard said.

The agency said it grounded 1,401 rolling cargoes, 161 vessels and 58 motorized boats in the ports in the affected areas because of “Marce.”

“Marce””•international name “Tokage””•was 55 kilometers Southeast of Coron, Palawan, as of 4 p.m. Friday with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. It is forecast to move west-northwest at 22 kph. 

Weathermen said it will be stormy over Southern Occidental Mindoro, Southern Oriental Mindoro and the Calamian group of Islands, where the seas will be rough to very rough. 

Rain with gusty winds will prevail over the rest of Mindoro, Northern Palawan, Romblon, Antique and Aklan.

Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rain are expected over Quezon, Aurora and the Bicol Region. 

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and the rest of Western Visayas, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar. 

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and from the southwest to southeast over Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas, where moderate to rough seas are expected.
