Voter list-up suspended

THE Commission on Elections has deferred the scheduled resumption of voter registration for the 2017 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections until the law postponing the Oct. 31 polls is passed.

The Comelec had earlier set voters’ registration to start on Oct. 3 but Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez on Friday said the decision not to open the voter registration early next week came after the law postponing the October 31st polls had not been passed yet.

“We can only resume registration after the law postponing the Barangay and SK elections has been passed,” he said in a statement.

The poll body official noted that they would release a new schedule of continuing registration as soon as President Rodrigo Duterte signed the law.

“We hope that we will be able to release an official Resolution on the resumption of registration in a week or two,” Jimenez said.
