Execs told to explain illegal dumps

THE Ombudsman ordered some local officials from the Visayas to explain the illegal operation of dumps within their areas.

Investigators from the Environmental Ombudsman Program are conducting an in-depth fact-finding investigation into illegal dumps being maintained in the provinces of Iloilo and Aklan.

Those asked to explain were local officials from Iloilo’s Banate Ajuy, Sara, Sta. Barbara and Concepcion towns, and Aklan’s Nabas, and to attend a series of clarificatory hearings. A hearing is set on Sept. 16 in Cebu City.
