Davao safety agency links with Interpol

DAVAO CITY—The Public Safety and Security Command Center in the city has established a partnership with Interpol over the agency’s agenda to beef up security measures in the city.

PSSCC chief, retired general Benito de Leon said one of the items in his agenda when he assumed the office last Monday is to intensify intelligence monitoring in the city through their recent partnership with Interpol.

“We are using other means (to gather intelligence) particularly through the Interpol databases and the fusion of all the intelligence network in the city and outside the city,” De Leon said.

He said that Davao City is the first local government unit to partner with Interpol in the entire country and that will allow the PSSCC to access the agency’s database to better monitor any international threats entering the city.

De Leon, however, was quick to clarify that the partnership with Interpol is not because they are monitoring international terrorist groups that caused the recent Roxas night market bombing that claimed the lives of 15 individuals and injured 70 others.
