A militant group filed a Freedom of Information request before the DoTC to look into the status of the alleged onerous deals entered by the former Transportation secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya.
“[The group] filed a Freedom of Information request with the DoTr regarding the status of the LRT 1 privatization and Cavite extension project. The group wants to study the actions taken by the DoTC under then Secretary Jun Abaya, in relation to certain contract provisions critics have described as onerous,” said Renato Reyes, secretary-general of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan.
“We hope that the department will act on our FOI request because the information is directly related to the use of public funds for projects imbued with public interest. We need to uncover the misdeeds committed by the previous administration,” Reyes said.
