DAGUPAN CITY—Some 7,000 policemen and soldiers  will secure the final Presidential Debate on April 24 at the Phinma University of Pangasinan starting at 6 p.m., Dagupan City Police Chief Christopher Abrahano said Friday.

He said there will be maximum security at the debate site and only those with clearance will be allowed to enter the debate hall.

He made his statement even as Senator Grace Poe on Friday appealed to her fellow presidential candidates to refrain from mudslinging and name-calling during the final Presidential Debate on Sunday.

“I am urging all candidates not to resort to name-calling because after this, we will be back to who we are,” Poe said.

Abrahano said only 1,100 people would be allowed in the debate hall.

The general audience could enter the university only from Nable Street where the gate would be open at 1 a.m. and closed at 3 p.m.

The presidential candidates are expected to arrive at 4 p.m.

The Commission on Elections said those without the pre-issued entry access would not be allowed in but could watch the debate on television.
