Suspected food poisoning hits 68 in Cebu

Sixty eight (68) persons fell ill due to a suspected case of food poisoning in Cebu City.

The victims were taken to two private hospitals after they reportedly ate meals served during the National Musabaqah Skills Exhibition.

The event was held at the Ecotech Center in Barangay Lahug.

Stewed squid and tuna sandwiches were said to have been packed and distributed to students, teachers, parents and guardians who attended the exhibition.

The Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 7 says, the incident is now under control.

It is investigating the source of the food.

The victims suffered from stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting.

DepEd organized the event to promote the Arabic language and Islamic values.
