Six (6) passengers were killed in a road accident in Misamis Oriental on Monday night.
A van going to Iligan City collided with a military truck.
The truck was part of a military convoy heading to Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental to get supplies.
Five of the van’s passengers were reportedly killed on the spot, while the sixth victim was brought to a hospital.
The mishap took place at about 9 to 10 pm along a curve of a national highway at Purok 15 in Manticao town.
9 other passengers of the van were brought to the hospital for treatment.
Witnesses say, the driver of the van was overtaking other vehicles moments before impact.
They also describe the site of the tragedy as an accident-prone area.
Police have filed criminal charges against the driver.
