2 severed heads of ASG hostages found in Basilan

Two severed heads were found in Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan.

Local authorities identifed the body parts as those of the Vietnamese captives of the Abu Sayyaf group (ASG).

The heads were seen by local residents at 5:40 am on Wednesday.

Prior to the incident, the bandits were holding hostage five Vietnamese.

On November 11, 2016, six Vietnamese crewmembers were abducted by armed men.

The suspects attacked their vessel off the coast of Sibago Island in Lamitan, Basilan.

One of the Vietnamese was able to escape from his abductors on June 16, 2017 during a military operation in Ungkaya Pukan town.
