The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has rescued three more Malaysians from the hands of the Abu Sayyaf (ASG).

The hostages saved by the military are Fandy Bakran, Mohd Jumadil Rahim and Mohd Ridzuan Ismail.

The three are among the five Malaysians kidnapped by the bandits off Lahad Datu in Sabah on July 18 last year.

The victims were on a tugboat when they were forcibly taken by the ASG.

Government troops were able to rescue the 3 Malaysians in Barangay Punay, Panglima Estino in Sulu as a result of the military operations in the province.
