NATONIN, Mountain Province—The Mountain Province Second District Engineering Office formally opened here on Monday in ceremonies led by Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Autonomous Region director Danilo Dequito.
The office was the brainchild of local officials, said District Engineer Wilbur Likigan of the province’s First District Engineering Office based in Bontoc.
The new office would overseea total of 151 kilometers of the Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis national road, in addition to school buildings and other infrastructure projects in the area, Likigan said.
House Bill 1869 was filed on August 10, 2011, in the 15th Congress and became Republic Act 10379, which was approved on March 8, 2013, paving the way for the establishment of the office. Public Works Secretary Mark VIllar then issued Department Order 190 in September to operationalize the office.
