UPLB’s Garibay tops civil engineer board exams

University of the Philippines-Los Baños graduate Sirven Carandang Garibay has topped the 2016 Civil Engineer Licensure Examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission with a rating of 93.20 percent.

Garibay emerged the topnotcher among the 5,036 passers out of 10,972 examinees from the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban and Zamboanga this month.

Second and third placers were Samuel Eliezer Yu Uy (92.75) and Selina Dianne King Bernardo (92.65), both of the University of San Carlos.

Kenneth Suba-an Acas of Father Saturnino Urios University was in fourth place (92.20), followed by Lenielle Babon Amatosa of the Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila (92.05) in fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Alvin Cleofe Sanvictores of Batangas State University-Alangilan (91.95); John Mervin Cabrador Bocatcat of Camarines Norte State College-Daet (91.85); Peter Paul Esparto Basiloy of the University of Eastern Philippines-Catarman, and Kathreen Louise Pascual del Rosario of Bulacan State University-Malolos (91.70);

Nikko Sidro Baldevizo Baluyot of the University of Eastern Philippines-Catarman, Jeremias Yang Marquez Jr. of the Cebu Institute of Technology, and Hiroshi Clarin Ueki of UP-Diliman (91.50); and Franz Josef Juscom Ceniza of the University of San Carlos (91.45).

The top performing schools with 50 or more examinees with at least 80 percent passing percentage are UP-Diliman with a 96.08 passing rate; UPLB (95.16); Technological University of the Philippines-Manila (90.35); University of Santo Tomas (85.98); Pangasinan State University-Urdaneta (85.71); and University of Rizal System-Morong (84.31).
