CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—The family of a 65-year-old man who was butchered, cooked, and eaten by his neighbor over the weekend has filed murder charges against the suspect, Teddy Boy Villegas.
The Bukidnon police said yesterday relatives of the victim, Edwin Ma, have already submitted an affidavit before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
Sr. Insp. Danielo Bellezas, chief of the Bukidnon police community relations office, confirmed initial reports that Villegas was suffering from mental illness, which may have caused him to brutally kill his neighbor.
“But only an expert can attest to his [Villegas] real mental condition in court, which will decide if he can be acquitted due to his illness,” Bellezas added.
Police discovered parts of the victim’s body in the middle of a banana plantation.
Ma’s other body parts were discovered inside a cooking pot.
