DAVAO CITY—Around 5,000 individuals gathered Monday to begin their journey from Davao City to Manila to show support for President Rodrigo Duterte in his first State of the Nation Address on Monday.

Gabriela Women’s Party-list 3rd nominee, Bai Ali Indayla, said that the participants aim to personally submit to Duterte their 10 points Mindanao Peoples’ Peace Agenda that they have created for the actionable peace for Duterte’s 1st  100 days in the service.

Indayla said that the participants will conduct a rally of support to Duterte outside the Batasang Pambansa during his Sona.

“There will be a program outside the Batasang Pambansa, just like what happened to his inauguration,” she

She said that they expect to meet the President after the event to personally talk to him about certain issues in Mindanao, concerning peace.

One of the issues that the group would like to address Duterte is the militarization in the country.

Indayla said that despite Duterte’s term, the Armed Forces of the Philippines still continues the “Oplan Bayanihan.”

“Maybe because Duterte’s administration still does not have a concrete plan on how to solve the armed conflicts in the country,” she said “We know that Duterte is pro-peace and we support it.”
