DAVAO CITY—Incoming Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary, lawyer Arthur Tugade called on the business sector not to corrupt the public officials at a recent consultation with the business community.
“If you do not wish us to be corrupt, you, yourself, must bear the battle of not seeking to corrupt us,” Tugade said.
He added that the businessmen should avoid inviting public officials from dinners and giving gifts to avoid misinterpretation.
“Avoid inviting us for dinner, we both know what happens during dinner. Once upon a time I was a businessman, the name of the game is simple, that’s a treat,” Tugade said.
He added that a businessman can only get needed permits if they deserve it and not because of the dinners or gifts given to them.
