CAMP ABELON, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur—A female volunteer of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting was killed while her teenage son was seriously wounded in an ambush staged by unidentified men Tuesday afternoon in Dinas town, this province.

A police report received here by Sr. Supt.  Michael Nicolas said PPCRV member Lilia P. Olmedo, a resident of nearby Barangay Garatta in Dinas, sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Her son Manuel, 14, was hit on the shoulder and arms and was rushed to the Tabina  Municipal Hospital. He is in serious condition.

Sr. Supt. Nicolas said Olmedo and her son were walking  towards San Isidro Parish church in Dinas poblacion to submit final results of the May 9 elections when they were fired upon with M-16 Armalite rifle by unidentified gunmen.

Responding police recovered  empty magazine of  M-16 rifle and 11 spent shells of 5.56 caliber at the crime scene even as they theorized that political motive was behind Olmedo’s killing and her son’s wounding.
