The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force and the Philippine National Police destroyed almost two hectares of marijuana plantation from more than 32 separate sites as part of an operation called “Love Triangle” in the provinces of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

PDEA Regional Director Adrian G. Alvarino said they had seized more than 50 million worth of marijuana. “We have also caught one marijuana cultivator named Jomar Capungan as he was watering the plants.”

Capungan was brought to Ilocos Sur where he was charged with numerous cases including cultivating illegal drugs and possession of marijuana seeds.

“At Barangay Likungan, there is one site where we caught up with one of the marijuana farmers. We caught him while he was trying to escape. When we searched him, we discovered marijuana seeds inside his pocket,” said one of the PDEA agents who participated in the raid.

The seized marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site by the authorities.
