ANGELES CITY—Four females, two of whom minors, were injured following an explosion in front of the ACLC school campus in Barangay Sto. Rosario last Tuesday.

The police identified the victims as Nolaid Cayanan, 44, of Brgy. Manibaug, Porac, Pampanga; Julie Ann Galicia, 29 and Anna Lyca, 17, (not her real name), who are all residents of Brgy. Amsic, and Lorna , 14, of Brgy. Paralaya, Porac town.

Police said two vehicles were damaged in the blast.

Witnesses told authorities that they saw an unidentified man on board a motorcycle with no plates who threw an object at the parking lot of the school campus.  This was immediately followed by a loud explosion at around 7 p.m.

Chief Inspector Kenneth Vega, Station 1 police chief, said a grenade lever was found by a Ordnance team which probed the blast site.

He said most of the victims were working in adjacent establishments that were hit by shrapnel.

“No serious damages and injuries inflicted during the explosion,” said Vega, saying that a post-blast investigation is ongoing to determine the type of grenade used and the  motive of the suspect.

Vega however said that a war between fraternities was not ruled out by investigators.

“There is a frat house in that area being maintained by Tau Gamma Phi and possibly the target of grenade attack,” said Vega.

The explosion happened amid police campaign against criminals.

Last week, two students of ACLC were stabbed dead by a distraught lover of one of the victims in Brgy. Malabanias. The bodies were discovered by neighbors who immediately reported the incident to the police.
