The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has raised the red tide alert in the coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate, and Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos and Wawa, Bani in Pangasinan, a senior official said on Thursday.

BFAR Director Asis Perez said shellfish collected in the coastal waters of  Bataan, including Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal, are also still positive for paralytic shellfish poison.

“All types of shellfish and alamang from these areas are not safe for human consumption,” Perez said.

“ Fish, squids, shrimps and crabs are safe for consumption provided they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and the internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” he said.

Perez said areas free from red tide include the coastal waters of Cavite, Las Pinas, Parañaque, Navotas, Bulacan, and Masincloc Bay in Zambales.
