Traders demand one-stop shop

CEBU CITY, Cebu—The Cebu Business Club, Inc. (CBCI) has urged the local government units in Metro Cebu to fast-track the release and renewal  of business permits by setting up a one-stop shop.

CBCI president Rey Calooy said small businessmen have been complaining of having difficulties in obtaining, and renewal of business permits because of numerous requirements.

“We hope that there will be significant changes for the benefit of the small and medium-scale businessmen this new year 2015,” Calooy said.

Cebu City Councilor Alvin Dizon, who was present during the recent year-end meeting of CBCI, vowed to look into the concerns of the businessmen and relay their demand for a one-stop shop to Councilor Hanz Abella who chairs the City Council Committee on Business.

Small businessmen in Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay Cities also asked Calooy to make representations in their respective LGUs.

Meanwhile, Philippine Association of Real Estate Board – Cebu Real Estate Board (PAREB-CEREB) president Samuel Lao has predicted “good Feng Shui forecast” for 2015, the “year of the sheep”.

Lao said that the Cebu developers have more advantages than the national players in the real estate industry in the reputed Queen City of the South because they know well its economic terrain, including the needs of the local market.
