Seven candidates filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the March 14 special elections in the second district of Antipolo City, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
This marks the start of the contest to fill the congressional seat left vacant by the late representative Romeo Acop.
Comelec chairnl George Garcia said the filing of COCs was conducted from February 5 to 7.
The poll body said the candidates who formally submitted their COCs were Dandin Infante, Reden Llaga, Lorenzo Sumulong III, Ma. Trinidad Galang, Philip Conrad Acop, Nathaniel Lobigas, and Irvin Paulo Tapales. Comelec said the official campaign period will run from February 12 to March 12, while the overall election period is set from February 12 to March 29.
