Bureau of Customs authorities seized a shipment of the party drug “ecstasy” worth P8.5 million and arrested a suspect during a controlled delivery operation Tuesday afternoon in Las Piñas City.

Arrested was Ana Fe Morilla, alias “Jonah Lleve,” a resident of Guava Street, CAA Phase 2, Las Piñas City.

A composite team from the Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, Southern Police District, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Southern Police District, and Las Pinas City police arrested the suspect after claiming the shipment containing 4,970 tablets of ecstasy at Manila Doctor Village in Barangay Almanza Uno around 4:25 p.m.

“The suspect presented an ID with fictitious name and signed the delivery receipt and afterwards received the box of package from a PDEA Agent who posed as package delivery personnel of a courier service which resulted in her arrest,” said SPD director Jimili Macaraeg.

Aside from the prohibited substance, authorities also confiscated the mobile phone and two identification cards of the suspect.

Based on import documents, the shipment was smuggled from Belgium and was misdeclared as ‘lamp.”

“Because of timely specialized and coordinated intervention of the competent units and agencies, this package will no longer reach the market and will not create a serious consequence for people’s lives especially the youth,” said Macaraeg.

The suspect and all recovered pieces of evidence were brought to PDEA office for proper disposition and documentation.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act).
