UP grads top physician board exams

Graduates of the University of the Philippines – Manila emerged as the topnotchers of the October 2021 Physician Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation Commission said late Thursday evening.

At least 72.85 percent of the 2,302 examinees passed the licensure examination.

Of the 1,677 passers, 1,664 were first-timers while 13 were repeaters.

UP Manila student Ian Gabriel Alparaque Juyad took the top spot at 87.50 percent, followed by Jian Kenzo Ong Leal and Geremiah Edison Daniel Cosia Llanes tied at second place with 87.42 percent.

Of the 17 passers rounding up the top 10, five were from UP Manila while seven were from the University of Sto. Tomas.

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila emerged as the top-performing school with a 98.6 percent passing rate, followed by UP Manila and the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health with 96.30 percent and 96 percent passing rates, respectively.

6. Michael Brian Del Barrio Alvarez of UP Manila (86.92 percent),

Marie Bernadine Dela Cruz Caballes of UP Manila (86.92 percent), and

Emmanuel Luis Santos Mangahas of UST (86.92 percent)

7. Ivan Gabriel Lalic Simpauco of UST (86.83 percent)

8. Miguel Luis Onate Arkoncel of UST (86.58 percent)

9. Monina Mica Biscocho Castillo of Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela (86.58 percent) and Stephen Dann Velasco Del Rosario of the Mariano Marcos State University-Batac (86.58 percent)

10. Aldric Mikhail Niu Aw of UST (86.50 percent), Johnvert Fulgar Batara of UST (86.50 percent), Lawrence Raymond Villaflor Mariano of UST (86.50 percent) and James Michael Gomez Suarez of ASMPH (86.50)
