The Bureau of Immigration (BI)  ordered the deportation of an overstaying Chinese man who was arrested in an operation in Paranaque City.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said that the overstaying Chinese, identified as  Lu Runguo, 43, was arrested by the Bureau’s Intelligence Division in coordination with the Paranaque City Police.

Lu was the subject of a warrant of deportation issued in September for staying in the country without securing and updating his visa.

BI records showed that Lu arrived in March 2019.  He stayed as a tourist but has failed to leave the country before the expiration of his visa, or file for its extension at any of the BI’s offices nationwide.

He will be temporarily held at the BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending the implementation of his deportation.

“Despite the pandemic, our intelligence officers remain active in ensuring that these erring aliens are arrested and deported,” said Morente.

The official said this case serves “as a reminder” to foreign nationals in the country. “Follow our laws or face deportation,” he warned.
