The People’s National Coalition for Revolutionary Government and Charter Change (RevGov) has appealed to Mayor “Inday” Sara Duterte-Carpio to reconsider her decision to run for reelection as Davao City mayor and instead file her Certificate of Candidacy for President to pursue the reforms started by her father, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

In an interview at the Broadcasters’ Forum OnLine, former Makati Vice Mayor Bobby Brillante, RevGov Secretary-General, said there is a general consensus in 81 provinces and 14 regions to stand down activities leading to the declaration of a revolutionary government “to give peace a chance and support Mayor Inday Sara’s run for President.”

Brillante was joined in the interview by Professor Punduma Sani, RevGov Vice Chairman for Mindanao. Sani is a Member of Parliament of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Vice Chairman for Military Affairs of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Also present at the interview was RevGov Chairman for Cordillera Mailed Molina of the Cordillera People’s Liberation Army (CPLA), Dr. Joaquin Ostrea of the Solid North Coalition for Revolutionary Government, and Engr. Mario “Boy” Lazaro of Southern Luzon Solidarity for Revolutionary Government and Charter Change.

Among the presidential aspirants who have declared their intention to run, including those who already filed their COCs, “it is only Sara Duterte who possesses qualifications of a strong leader with unblemished record in public service, proven dedication to serve the poor and the oppressed and with unquestioned honesty and integrity,” they said.

“That is the leader this country needs and that is the President the people want,” the RevGov speakers stated.

“With Sara Duterte we have a better probability of transforming our form of government to federalism, giving more autonomy and power to local government units and decentralizing the vast powers of the President under the present unitary system, dismantle monopolies, spread the development to the countryside, allow equal opportunity to do business in private and in public sectors, and finally, democratize the national economy to achieve economic democracy for all Filipinos,” Brillante added.

“We want to finally stop corruption in government by immediate prosecution of greedy megalomaniac public officials within a 90-day period, and timely resolution of corruption cases within 180-day period by the Sandiganbayan to make sure that those guilty of graft and corruption are sent to jail in less than 12-month period,” he said.

“No more ‘justice delayed, justice denied.’ Our taxpayers want to see corrupt public officials in jail. And only Sara Duterte has the moral and spiritual courage to do that. That is why we want Sara Duterte to run for President,” Brillante concluded.
