City of Sam Fernando–Anti-illegal drugs operatives over the weekend seized some 44 bricks of dried marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of more than P5 million neatly concealed in two sacks at the cargo section of a Manila-bound bus at the Mabalacat City Transport Terminal.

Three alleged owners of the illegal cargo were invited for questioning by the local police. They were identified as Filmar Robles Lipasano, 44, of Mountain View, Angeles City; and Lianna Jess Maigne Mallari De La Cruz, 18 and Jerthec Cris Alcabaso Lusung, 19, both of Ferreras Compound in Barangay Sta. Teresita, Angeles City.

An employee of the Victory Liner Bus who tipped off the police of the suspicious cargo told authorities the suspects boarded at Baguio City Terminal with what they claimed were two sacks of fresh vegetables.

The sacks were covered with fresh banana leaves to conceal the contraband, a police investigator said.

Earlier this week, government anti-narcotics authorities seized P7.4 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu weighing about 1.1 kilos after they intercepted two parcels of a Clark-bound cargo from China via an air courier firm.

Bureau of Customs Port of Clark District Collector Alexandra Lumontad said she issued a seizure detention order against the cargo following reports that suspicious items were neatly concealed inside two air pots consigned to a certain Mary Grace of Angeles City.
